Prompt: Write about a moment when you felt you had the power to make a difference in someone else's life.

There was a time when a friend was going through a difficult situation, feeling unheard and alone, and I took the time to listen without judgment. I reassured them that their feelings were valid and offered support, but they felt like there problems weren't as bad as other people so he felt like it wasn’t that important. So I told him “if someone’s drowning in 60 feet and you’re drowning in 30 feet y’all are both drowning” Seeing their expression soften and hearing them say, “Thank you, I really needed this,” made me realize how much a small act of kindness could mean. In that moment, I knew that simply being there for someone had the power to make a real difference in anyone’s life.
